Surrounded by a fascinating hilly landscape where vineyards and olive groves supply excellent wines and extra virgin olive oil, Carmignano has much to offer: local trattorie where to eat traditional dishes, a wealth of farms and enoteche (wine shops) where to drink, archaeological sites and magnificent villas to visit, ancient churches such as the Pieve di San Michele at Carmignano (the church of St. Micheal) where visitors can admire the splendid "Visitation" (XVI century) by Pontormo. During the visit to the Tenuta Capezzana, students will learn about one of the most ancient Italian wines and forefathers of the world-known Super Tuscan Wine.


Itinerary: 

Early departure from Florence to Carmignano. Walking tour of Carmignano’s historic town center and guided visit of selected sites (including the gothic church of San Michele). Guided visit of Tenuta Capezzana and group lunch. Time to work on FL assignment and free time. Return to Florence in the early evening.

  • Increase critical thinking, especially in relation to the role tourism plays in marketing the history, food and culture of Italy
