This activity will bring to the forefront the relationship between tradition, history, and innovation.

Visits will enhance and deepen knowledge about one of the territories which neighbors Florence: similar landscapes, similar traditions, but a historical rivalry that encouraged both towns to develop excellent products and ideas that are still leading national and international markets.
 

Itinerary:

Early departure from Florence to head to Siena. On the way, visit of a local family-run business.
Transfer to Siena, to visit of Piazza del Campo and 'Musei Civici', with frescoes and pictures by Simone Martini, Duccio and other artists of the time. Last stop is a visit and tasting of local products. In the afternoon, free time to explore the city, then departure to Florence.


The activity includes:

  • Visit and walking Tour of Siena, including entrance to some sites

  • Define the characteristics of Cultural Heritage Tourism in Italy.
  • Describe the urban development of a medieval city through the centuries.
  • Explain the political and social changes of the 12th and 13th centuries that led to the Renaissance era.
  • Identify the achievements of Gothic art in Tuscany.
  • Evaluate the revolution that took place in the 14th century through the work of Italian masters Duccio di Buoninsegna, Cimabue, Ambrogio Lorenzetti and Simone Martini.
  • Evaluate the “Renaissance” of quality wine in Tuscany over the last decades.
  • Assess the necessary skills and strategies to develop innovative, successful products.
